Program

12pm
Opening Session

To celebrate this day, we have chosen the voices of inspiring leaders from the Ubuntu Global Network, both from South Africa, the cradle of Ubuntu where it is applied in society to inspire the creation of a "rainbow society" in the words of Nelson Mandela.

There are also leaders from Latin America, a land of wisdom who will share with the world insights and lessons gained from overcoming challenges.

12.45 pm
Launch of the “Ubuntu United Nations”

Our times call for bridge-building. We need to activate young leaders worldwide to mobilize for unity in diversity, inspired by the values promoted by the United Nations.

In 2021, from the inspirational initiative of "Living together in Peace", the "Ubuntu United Nations" will be developed, involving 193 delegations of young leaders from all countries of the world, targeting capacity building and global mobilization.

1.45 pm
Facing great struggles in living together in peace

In the recent past, several countries and communities have experienced great challenges in living together in peace.

These communities have suffered greatly by virtue of armed conflicts, wars, genocide, widespread violence and human rights violations.

However, they have been capable of building processes of peace and reconciliation and found ways to live together in peace, relentlessly holding on to hope in humanity.

2.45 pm
Dialogue: the best way to learn to live together

The best way to promote the capacity to live together in peace is through means of permanent dialogue.

In small groups, participants from the four corners of the world will have the opportunity to talk and seek strategies and ways to live together in peace.

3.45 pm
Living Together in Peace means…

To live together in peace means we must resist dehumanizing the "Other".

It is therefore, essential to understand these dehumanization trends, in order to prevent and combat them. Inclusive education is vital and always a good place to start.

Similarly, the discussion of human migration movements is central to the promotion of this humanisation allowing us to live together in peace.

4.30 pm
Living is Caring means…

Living together in peace is completely dependant on renewed ethics of care: caring for oneself, caring for others and the community, and caring for the planet. To make it stronger and more evident, it is important to recover the centrality of mutual care and the culture of encounter.
